When will Orlistat be available for OTC purchase?

Public Comments

  1. IF and WHEN the FDA says so.
  2. Oh, I seriously doubt Xenical will EVER be available OTC. Because the side effects of the mediation are so bad, you HAVE to be monitored by a doctor while you take it. Closely monitored. You have to have blood work done at regular intervals to make sure you aren't malnourished from the lack of vitamins/mineral absorption. And you have to take whichever vitamins your body has too little of. Here are some of the side effects: oily spotting; oily or fatty stools; orange or brown colored oil in your stool; gas with discharge, an oily discharge; an urgent need to go to the bathroom; an inability to control bowel movements, or; an increased number of bowel movements.
  3. Just buy it online! $125 + $7.50 shipping. If it ever got to be OTC it would be that price or more. What you might want instead would be a generic version. That would save some money.
